After holding the first intensive summer training programme in 2003. requests for an ongoing training programme started pouring in and SRVC identified the need to have a permanent Resource Centre. On 26th December 2003, a 'Resource Centre  for the Visually Challenged' was inaugurated at Kalamassery, Kochi,  with a few blind-friendly computers. Sunil J Mathew introduced the screen reading software developed by Dr. Kalyanakrishnan and his team at I.I.T. Chennai. Weekend training was imparted free of cost for the visually challenged. However, shortage of resources like volunteers to train and the distance factor for the students led to a slow down and it was decided that a full fledged Resource Centre be started in a more Centrally Located place after creating more awareness and mobilising more resources. In 2004 & 2005, the 2-week intensive residential summer training programme was repeated. SRVC was again running out of resources. There was a plan to develop an Orchestra by the Visually Challenged. Smt.Usha Uthup was in full support. Thus, with a view to give focused attention to music, SRVC under the leadership of the Project Head organized a mega music event namely ‘Music for the Heart’ lining up 25 senior artists from South India on 23rd May-2004 at Hotel Le-Meridian, Cochin. As a prelude and to create awareness, “Cricket for the Blind” was held on the previous day. The Music Concert which was led by the chief patrons of SRVC, Pop diva Usha Uthup and Super Star Suresh Gopi, was conducted to mobilize resources for formation of an Orchestra by the Visually Challenged. An announcement was made on this day that within one year, SRVC will put together an Orchestra exclusively by the Visually Challenged.

Accordingly, through Radio announcements, applications were invited from talented musicians and selection camps held at various places. After three rounds of screening, 70 musicians were selected from across the State who underwent a 3 days Music Workshop led by veterans from the field of Music. From among the group of 70, the best were short listed to form the Orchestra. It was a ‘dream come true’ for SRVC when the Orchestra was launched on 14th May 2005, within one year as committed. The Orchestra was formally Christened on 23rd May2005 as “HEART 2 HEART” by Cine Star Sreenivasan and inaugurated by Veteran Singer P.Jayachandran.
